I will not forget you. Isaiah 49:15

Do you ever feel forgotten? When lots of things go wrong at once, I tend to feel it’s because God’s forgotten me. It’s illogical to think this, after all, She’s taken care of me for thirty-seven years. Do I think She’s suddenly bored? Disinterested?

No, but it’s hard for my little, human heart to understand that WHILE I’m in Her loving care, bad things will happen. While I shelter under Her wings, rain will still pour down. On me. I know Jesus said we’d have trouble, but I thought it would be cozy under God’s wings. When my world is turned upside down, I long to feel warm and safe.

And sometimes I do. I find sanctuary and peace and rest. Other times, I can’t find it. Maybe I’m holding onto my agenda too tightly or maybe uncertainty is just uncomfortable when we’re new to trusting God in the face of it. But still, the Bible promises, God doesn’t forget us.

So when things are upside down, and we can’t see a path forward, when what you’ve put your heart and soul into is slipping through your fingers, it does NOT mean God has forgotten you. God is beside you, no—She’s inside you. People forget. Parents forget. God doesn’t. You ARE on Her mind and every thought that vexes or pains you, She considers Her personal mission. What She does about it, is often mysterious to us, but the Bible also promises Her love is everlasting. We have Her love and attention and we can’t lose it. Which means we’re safe, even in the rain.
