Scriptures

Hebrews 13:7 (KJV): “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.”
John 15:13 (KJV): “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Devotion
On this Veterans Day, as we gather to honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, let us reflect on the profound love and selflessness demonstrated by Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for all humanity.

In Hebrews 13:7, we are encouraged to remember those who have led and guided us, those who have spoken the word of God into our lives. We honor the memory of our fallen heroes who exemplified faith, courage, and dedication in their service to others. Their sacrifice echoes the sacrificial love of Christ Himself.

John 15:13 reminds us of the greatest love of all – the love displayed by Jesus when He willingly gave His life for us. As Christians, we are called to emulate this love in our daily lives. We are called to sacrificially love others, just as Christ loved us, laying down His life for our salvation.

As we commemorate Veterans Day, let us not only remember the past sacrifices of our servicemen and women but also consider how we can better represent Jesus, who died for everyone. Let us live lives of gratitude and service, honoring the legacy of those who have gone before us by loving and serving others with the same sacrificial love that Christ showed us.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, on this Veterans Day, we thank You for the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to our country. May we never forget their sacrifice, and may we honor their memory by living lives of gratitude and service. Help us to love others with the same sacrificial love that Jesus showed us, laying down His life for our salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
