Members of the Covenant Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, gathered on a beautiful fall day in 2022 to sort through items that were either purchased or donated by the church and its members in an effort to support their community, and the people who are in need of food, clothing and toiletries. Their goal is to help out people who are either needing support or are homeless.
They parked a trailer filled with the food, hygiene products and warm clothing in downtown Cedar Rapids earlier last year. All hygiene products and food bags were given out to the many community members who stopped by. Those needing warm clothing were happy to receive coats, hats, gloves and other basic clothing.
The church has already held two successful giveaways and plans to continue this community blessing once a month through the winter months. It is the hope that those in need will see the love Jesus has for them, through the people serving them.
