Phyllis Alexander, who works at Regional Health Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota and is a member of the Rapid City Adventist Church, received a surprise “Congratulations!” email July 10 stating she had received a commendation award. Alexander’s supervisor Sheri Zimmerman, director of health Information Management, recommended Alexander for the Excellence in Action Award for Compassion.
Zimmerman wrote on the award, “Thank you for your significant contribution to Community Disaster Response through your church and for your extra PRN (Pro Re Nata or as the thing is needed) work days during a recent unexpected absence…Your compassion shines through.”
In addition to the certificate, Alexander received a $25.00 gift card and 250 points to use for shopping from a recognition catalog. Regional Health’s Award Suite is a recommendation site for employees and states in part, “Caregivers should be recognized and rewarded for doing great work, going above and beyond, helping their team and serving patients.”
Alexander’s email concluded, “On behalf of Regional Health, thank you for your continued commitment to helping our patients and communities live well.”
