‘Tis a bitter cup to drink
To live alone
and to not sink;

To be of keen mind
and spirited heart,
But to restrain the limbs
and eyes
and mouth…

All around me;
Even in my books,
In movies, vlogs and all—
Bliss and trial.

I’m not too naïve to believe
No heartache comes,
Even when lives entertwine
So loverly.

That doesn’t lessen my awareness;
And I privately gawk at what I see
That for me cannot (or never, ever?) be.
