Atrocities like this are always a surprise, often bringing more questions than answers. While this tragedy apparently did not directly affect a member of our faith community, we all belong to the larger human community and thus we are all a part of this event, to a greater or lesser extent. In that human realm, our hearts are pained alongside those who have directly suffered the loss of loved ones. And so we extend our prayers for those who are recovering from injuries sustained in the incident. As a Christian Community, we must hear in the cries of those who grieve and those who are in pain, a renewed call to hasten the day when our Lord Jesus Christ will return and “make all things new.”
