“Ice creeeeeeeeaaam!” I shouted. I was falling like a rock. Then, I was abruptly stopped by the bumpy tire at the end of the wire. The camp leader quickly helped me off the zip line, and I happily skipped to the next. This was my fourth year at camp. Interestingly, I noticed camp had made me braver than last year. I have become courageous enough to try new things and taste new foods.
Experiences at camp have made me confident enough to stand for what I believe is right. I have become more independent and responsible by cleaning the cabin for inspection and organizing for my activities. I am learning to conduct myself properly, preparing for when I’m grown and on my own.
At camp, I have learned a great deal about God and nature. For instance, a pastor gives spiritual talks, which include God’s second Bible, nature. I have also participated in archery, football, and horseback riding. All of these activities have helped me learn teamwork. When working with others, I have learned to make compromises.
While waiting for my turn at the zip line, I found myself being more patient and thoughtful of others. The experiences at camp have also made me more mature. I have always enjoyed playing with everyone at camp. Before attending camp, I was timid around strangers, and now I am bold and outgoing. I wasn’t afraid to shout, “Ice creeeeeeeeaaam!” while I was going down the zip line for fear someone would think it silly. As I descended down the last line, I realized camp has molded me. Attending camp has changed my life forever.
