An urgent request has come from the city of Joplin asking skilled laborers to join efforts with volunteer rebuilding projects.Interested individuals may contact Americorps St. Louis on their own to offer assistance (download this PDF for more info).
Additionally, Pastor Roy Weeden (Sullivan, Bourbon and Owensville Missouri SDA Churches, and the Missouri director of Adventist Community Services—Disaster Response) has issued the following appeal:
I am asking for members with skill and some time on their hands to contact me with their talents, availability and willingness to work for two (2) five day periods in September and October. I am targeting the dates of September 9-13 and October 7-11, 2012 for two mission projects from the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mid-America.
Individuals should be ready to be self-contained for their personal needs, although some efforts will be
made with the Joplin SDA Church to help meet some of our travelers’ needs.
Individuals should register with me by email by August 22 with names, ages, skills and ability to be self-contained for personal needs.
Volunteers may phone Pastor Weeden at 800.849.9519 or Email Pastor Weeden.
