At Budapest Church “B” for International Women’s Day of Prayer

It has been a few days since I departed from a spending a month in Hungary. When I first arrived I knew right away that the language barrier was going to be an obstacle to forming close relationships.  But life’s experiences have taught me, When you have an obstacle in your way, pray.  And so I prayed.

During my third week there, God gave me a special answer to those prayers. I was approached by Beata, a beautiful young woman who spoke Hungarian and German. She had learned English several years ago, but still knew enough that we could have a conversation. As we talked, we found we had some things in common and a friendship was born. We laughed at times when she was trying to find the right word to say in English and I would keep guessing what she was trying to say.  The amazing thing is that when women love the Lord, His Holy Spirit has a way of filling in the communication gaps.

During my last Sabbath in Hungary, Beata accompanied me to Budapest. I had been asked by Eva, the WM leader for the Hungarian Union,  to speak there for the International Women’s Day of Prayer. Again, as I met Eva, and then my translator, Larissa, I was amazed at how God can bring together women from different countries, languages, and backgrounds. And yet, because of our love for Him, there was an instant connection. A bond that will extend into eternity. Throughout the day, I met and spent time with about 80 precious ladies. Some shared with me their private struggles and we prayed together. Others shared their joy in knowing Jesus and what He has done for them.

I promised all the women that Sabbath that I would continue to pray for them the next 30 days. And I have so far. It is a rich blessing for me to lift these precious souls to Jesus for Him to bless them as He sees best. When we are in Christ, there are no language barriers. Love transcends all languages.
