After 13 years of serving as communication and Sabbath school director for the Iowa-Missouri Conference, Michelle Hansen is stepping down, due to non-life-threatening health issues.
“I have only love and respect for the conference administration, staff and Executive Committee,” said Hansen. “I am grateful to have worked in such a godly and genuinely friendly environment for all these years. The conference team, pastors, teachers and the church members have been a great blessing to me, and I pray the best for this conference going forward.”
In a collective statement, the Iowa-Missouri Conference officers said, “We are grateful for Michelle’s faithful service in our conference. She will be missed and we wish her rich blessings in her new ventures.”
Providentially, the Lord has opened the door quickly for a replacement. The Iowa-Missouri Conference Executive Committee invited Randy Harmdierks to serve as the new communication and Sabbath school director beginning June 1. Harmdierks was previously the managing editor of OUTLOOK magazine, as well as working with social media and websites for the Mid-America Union. His wife, Angie, has already been employed in Iowa for several months, having accepted a position there after completing her masters degree in counseling last December.
“I am truly humbled by this opportunity to serve the members of the Iowa-Missouri Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in this new role,” said Harmdierks. “I look forward to playing a part in reporting the many wonderful things God is doing in this part of His vineyard.”
Brenda Dickerson, communication director for the Mid-America Union, said, “Randy has been at the Mid-America Union for over four years, and while we will greatly miss him in our Lincoln office we’re happy he will still be part of our Mid-America team. I know he will be a huge blessing wherever he serves. We wish him and Angie all the best.”
Harmdierks grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Union College. He and Angie, who grew up in Nevada, Iowa, have three long-haired chihuahuas: Noodle, Gonzo and Chicky.
