This past May, the Minnesota Conference hosted its very first virtual Children’s Week of Prayer entitled, “Inside Out.” The Inside Out Week of Prayer was inspired by the Disney movie, Inside Out which covers the importance of all feelings: anger, disgust, fear, sadness, and joy. The purpose for this week of prayer was to raise awareness of children’s mental health wellness since there is a great need for faith-based resources in the area of children’s mental health as the result of the pandemic and unrest in the Twin Cities. A group of children’s ministry leaders and pastors in the Minnesota Conference collaborated with their children and youth to lead
attending children each night on Zoom through interactive Praise and Worship, acting/animation, trivia, object lessons and spoken message about emotions. This event has allowed our children to take the lead with the help of their pastors and leaders.
Though our children were sad when the week of prayer had come to an end, they left the Inside Out Week of Prayer knowing that Jesus loves them and all of their feelings whether good or bad.
After the Week of Prayer concluded, the children’s ministry leaders came together and hosted a panel discussion on Children’s Mental Health and Wellness. The goal of the discussion was focused on equipping and empowering parents to help their children say “Yes” to Jesus and a healthy mind. God is doing great things in our territory for our youngest followers of Jesus and we are praising God for His guidance and movement through the lives of our children.
