Schlisner announces retirement after 7 years at helm.

LINCOLN, NE –  Good Neighbor Community Center’s board of directors announces the promotion of Tom Randa from program director to executive director, effective April 1. Randa will fill the position as Sheila Schlisner retires after serving as director for seven years.

Schlisner is pleased with the replacement choice. “One thing that Tom has done very well as program director is to create a team effort,” she said. “He has the ability to build responsibility in staff and has strong leadership skills.”

Randa has been with the Center for four years serving in various capacities including overseeing staff who manage the food pantry, organizing office staff and volunteer coordination, as well as assisting with Information Technology (IT) responsibilities.

Chairman of the board and volunteer Marvin Almy is impressed with what Schlisner has accomplished and is confident in the board’s choice of Randa to continue that leadership.

“Sheila brought a new level of professional management and public awareness to the Good Neighbor Community Center,” he said. “Among her major accomplishments are the conversion of GNCC’s non-perishable food distribution to a Shopper’s Choice method, major expansion of GNCC’s food distribution and creation of the Middle East North Africa (MENA) Hope Project. GNCC will miss her dedication and compassion.”

Randa looks forward to filling Schlisner’s shoes.  “Sheila has given this organization a really good lead to follow,” he said. “I hope to continue making the Center a smooth experience for staff, volunteers and, of course, clients.”
