Elder Glenn E. Smith died peacefully on Dec. 2, 2020 after a precious period of hymn singing, scripture recitation and “I love you’s.” Born Jan. 11, 1925, Elder Smith was one month shy of 96 years old.
Fields of service
Elder Smith pastored churches in the Western Pennsylvania and Chesapeake conferences. He directed the Stewardship Departments of the Nebraska and Florida conferences, concluding his ministry as director of Trust Services in the Southern Union Conference, all posts of service in North American Division.
The middle years of Smith’s ministry were given to mission service where he directed stewardship for the Inter-American Division of the General Conference. Elder Smith also directed the Trust Services Department of the General Conference’s Trans-Africa Division.
Family legacy
Smith is survived by his wife, Roberta Berkeley Smith, of Calhoun, Georgia. In addition, four sons survive their father: Jerry and Dave live in Calhoun, Georgia. Doug is of Albany, California, and Ted is of Scottsdale, Arizona.
