Anyone need some hope today?

It’s been a hard week at our house. Where we seemed to have made progress recently, those same problems have been boiling up again incessantly.  Monday was hard, but I waited it out. Each new day has not improved. Believe me, I have had many opportunities to be sorry and ask, “Will you forgive Mommy?”

“Good job, Mom,” you may say to affirm my use of common parenting advice. But it’s been so painful to have these experiences that prompted the need for apologies. What a mess!

I have begged God for a bigger perspective.  Here’s what God thinks about what we do as moms:

Whoever welcomes this little child in My name welcomes Me (Luke 9:48).

God is not unjust. He will not forget the work you have done and the LOVE YOU HAVE SHOWN HIM as you have helped His people and continue to help them (Hebrews 6:10).

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward (Matthew 10:42).

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of God (Galatians 1:10).

Whatever you do today for your sweet child, you are showing love for Jesus. Jesus feels our love for Him by the care and help we give our little ones…even if it’s answering a night time plea of “I want water, Mommy.”

When we see God’s approval and realize we are being loving to God, doesn’t it help? Often, we hear the grating sounds of disapproval from our children. But let’s remember they are not the last word. He is. He knows what we are doing. He supports us as we show His love to His own.

Just think of the delight that will come when your child brings YOU a cup of cold water.
